Asian Games Women’s Cricket 2026 Medal Winners
India finished top of the women’s cricket competition after defeating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the gold-medal match. India posted 216 for three before bowling Sri Lanka out for 69 in 15.4 overs.
Smriti Mandhana led India’s batting with 79 from 45 balls, while Shafali Verma scored 48 from 29. Richa Ghosh provided a powerful finish, remaining unbeaten on 49 from only 22 deliveries. India’s 216 was the highest total recorded in the women’s cricket tournament at these Asian Games.
Deepti Sharma and India’s spin attack then kept Sri Lanka under sustained pressure. Captain Chamari Athapaththu top-scored with 29 from 21 balls, but Sri Lanka could not build a partnership.
The victory gave India back-to-back Asian Games women’s cricket gold medals. India had also beaten Sri Lanka in the final at the 2022 Hangzhou Games, winning by 19 runs.
Sri Lanka Take Silver
Sri Lanka finished with the silver medal after reaching the final for the second consecutive Asian Games. Their route to the title match included a semi-final victory over Pakistan.
Led by Chamari Athapaththu, Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the semi-final. Pakistan scored 130 for five, with Fatima Sana making an unbeaten 47, but Sri Lanka completed the chase with eight balls remaining.
Sri Lanka could not reproduce that batting performance against India. After India reached 216, Sri Lanka lost wickets regularly and were dismissed for 69.
Pakistan Win Bronze Medal
Pakistan finished the 2026 Asian Games women’s cricket competition with bronze after beating Bangladesh by 31 runs in the third-place play-off.
Pakistan scored 145 for eight in 20 overs. Captain Fatima Sana played a decisive innings, scoring 45 from 30 balls after Pakistan slipped from 46 without loss to 67 for five.
Fatima combined with Aliya Riaz for a 67-run partnership from 43 balls, helping Pakistan add 55 runs during the final five overs. Gull Feroza had earlier scored 31 from 23 deliveries.
Bangladesh were restricted to 114 for seven. Umm-e-Hani was Pakistan’s leading bowler, taking three wickets for 10 runs in four overs. Nigar Sultana scored 25, while Sharmin Akhter remained unbeaten on 46, but Bangladesh could not maintain the required scoring rate.
The bronze is Pakistan’s third medal in women’s cricket at the Asian Games. Pakistan previously won gold in 2010 and 2014. At the 2022 Hangzhou Games, Pakistan lost the bronze-medal match to Bangladesh and finished fourth.
