TECNO Unveils Futuristic Bezel-Less Phone With Almost Zero Screen Borders

Consumer electronics brand TECNO unveiled a fully functioning Next-Gen Borderless Concept Phone at the IFA 2026 trade show in Berlin, showcasing a true 0mm display bezel that eliminates traditional physical borders around the screen. The prototype integrates an inverted screen assembly process and a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED panel to achieve an edge-to-edge visual experience. For tech enthusiasts and mobile users in Pakistan, where TECNO maintains a major market presence, the breakthrough offers a preview of commercial smartphone engineering in upcoming flagship models

Technical Innovations Behind TECNO’s 0mm Display Architecture

Achieving a zero-bezel display required TECNO to depart from standard smartphone manufacturing methods. Traditional smartphone screens retain a 1mm to 2mm inactive border along the display edge to house electrical connections and structural housing. TECNO addressed this limitation by implementing a dual-layer cover glass mechanism, where the lower portion wraps directly around the midframe to hide the inactive black borders underneath.

This structural shift required TECNO to insert the display module from the back of the device during assembly rather than the front. The second cover glass layer is secured from the front side using a specialized hot-melt adhesive formulated to maintain structural integrity under daily use.

Handset Ergonomics, Touch Sensitivity, and Daily Usability

Beyond visual aesthetics, eliminating display margins introduces practical engineering challenges regarding palm rejection and drop protection. Because user fingers sit directly along the active screen edge, TECNO updated its touch-sensitivity algorithms and user interface elements to suppress unintended side inputs.

Hands-on impressions from IFA 2026 indicate that user interface elements expand edge-to-edge, producing an immersive viewing effect compared to conventional smartphones. While minor bezel remnants remain visible around the curved bottom corners of the concept device, the overall presentation confirms that functional zero-border mobile displays are technically feasible.

Additional Hardware Unveilings at IFA 2026

The Next-Gen Borderless Concept Phone formed part of TECNO’s broader product showcase in Berlin. Alongside the concept handset, TECNO demonstrated:

  • MEGABOOK T15 360 Pro: TECNO’s first convertible laptop featuring a 360-degree hinge, a 15.6-inch 2.5K 120Hz touchscreen, and Intel Core Ultra processors.
  • POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Edition: A co-branded smartphone powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset and custom graphic processing units.
  • CAMON Slim Series: An ultra-slim 6.39mm unibody handset equipped with a 50MP Sony Lytia primary camera sensor.

Manufacturing Challenges Ahead for Mainstream Adoption

While the prototype demonstrates functional viability, bringing 0mm display smartphones to high-volume commercial production requires overcoming durability hurdles. Without a raised protective bezel or wider metal rim, exposed screen edges remain more vulnerable to impact damage during accidental drops. TECNO engineers are working to refine drop resistance ratings and thermal dissipation channels before mass-producing devices with this display structure. Industry experts project that early commercial implementations of zero-bezel displays could reach international consumer markets within the next two hardware generations

TECNO’s Next-Gen Borderless Concept Phone marks a milestone in display engineering by proving that true 0mm screen bezels can function on working hardware. As the brand continues to refine its manufacturing processes and palm rejection software, consumers in Pakistan and globally are moving closer to a completely borderless smartphone era.
