Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a targeted Rs100-per-litre petrol relief scheme for motorcycle, rickshaw, Qingqi and other two- and three-wheeler users, as well as owners of cars with engines up to 800cc. Registration has opened, with applicants required to provide their CNIC, mobile number and vehicle details before receiving a digital fuel-relief token. The scheme is intended to cushion households and daily commuters from sharply higher petrol prices linked to turmoil in international oil markets.
How to Register for the Rs100 Petrol Subsidy
The government’s registration process is based on SMS verification. According to details published by Business Recorder, eligible applicants need a valid CNIC, a SIM registered in their own name and vehicle registration information that can be verified through provincial Excise Department records.

The registration date must be entered in DDMMYYYY format. The province or territory codes are: I for Islamabad, A for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, G for Gilgit-Baltistan, S for Sindh, P for Punjab, K for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and B for Balochistan.
Applicants must replace the generic details in the format with their own CNIC, vehicle registration number, applicable province code and registration date. Vehicle information will be checked against official registration records.
After successful registration, applicants will receive a confirmation message. Before purchasing subsidised petrol, they must send “TOK” to 9771 to obtain a fuel-relief token. The token is then shown at a participating petrol station, where the eligible Rs100-per-litre relief is applied to the permitted monthly fuel quota.
Who Qualifies for PM Petrol Relief?
The scheme covers motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis and other two- and three-wheelers. These users can receive Rs100 per litre in relief on up to 20 litres of petrol per month, meaning the maximum monthly benefit is Rs2,000.
Owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc can receive the same Rs100-per-litre relief on up to 30 litres per month. Their maximum monthly saving is therefore Rs3,000.
Business Recorder reported that government information material lists small cars including the Suzuki Mehran, Alto and Bolan among vehicles covered by the 800cc category. Eligibility depends on the vehicle’s recorded engine capacity and verification through official records.
The scheme is not a general reduction in the official petrol price for every consumer. Instead, it is a targeted fuel subsidy for specified vehicle categories and limited monthly quotas.
When Will the Petrol Subsidy Start?
The rollout is being phased. The scheme is scheduled to begin in Islamabad from midnight between September 14 and 15, while implementation across the rest of Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, is scheduled to start from midnight between September 16 and 17. Registration opened on September 13.
Recent reporting put petrol at Rs375.82 per litre and high-speed diesel at Rs403.32 per litre, reflecting the pressure on consumers from international energy-market disruptions.
What Applicants Should Check Before Registration
Applicants should ensure that their mobile SIM is registered against the same CNIC being used for registration. Vehicle ownership and registration details should also match official Excise Department records.
The verified registration instructions reported by Business Recorder use the SMS short code 9771. The search term “pm fuel relief.pk” should not be treated as an official website unless its authenticity is confirmed by the government.
Earlier in 2026, the federal government also used digital wallets for fuel-support payments to transport operators, with more than Rs1.2 billion reportedly transferred to over 32,000 beneficiaries in an initial phase.
